Power My Home solar panels in the UK.

PV solar panels with export tariffs

"There are currently 1.8 million domestic PV solar panel adoptions in the UK, with 2 million installations projected by 2025. This growth in adoption is due to the rising costs of traditional energy, new ancillary products, and export tariffs. There's no better incentive than acknowledging the age of cheap energy is over. It's this reason why most people install photovoltaic solar panels."

"I would like to tell you how satisfied I am with the photovoltaic solar panels you installed. I was informed, and the installers were all very pleasant. Once again, I want to thank you for helping me to install the system."

The cost of purchasing a PV solar system is offset by exporting surplus. The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) pays generators for surplus power and encourages competition in the self-generation marketplace.

0% VAT incentive - April 2022 - 31 March 2027.

VAT on domestic PV solar system installations and solar heating is now 0% in the UK. The reduced rate will apply from 1 April 2022 until 31 March 2027.

On-grid storage batteries only qualify if supplied as part of the original PV installation. Batteries don't qualify as an aftermarket installation.

Energy independence-ish.

Generating independence is the best incentive for installing solar panels.

Surplus power gets stored via battery storage, water heating, or EV charging options. Surplus-generated is measurable by the time of the year, so offsetting your winter energy costs is achieved in the summer months. Surplus power will automatically feed into the National Grid when not required by ancillaries.

Historical.

Historically, grants and incentives in the UK began with the Blue Skies solar grant for solar heating in 2004. The Blue Skies grant scheme ended in 2008 and made way for the embryonic feed-in tariff scheme. The earliest feed-in tariff motivated the early PV solar industry up to 2016. Today, selling and offsetting electricity by adopting a grid-tied PV system is now the way forward for homeowners.

Will solar panels produce all my needs?

In most cases, no. However, it can do a substantial portion. Each case varies depending on your consumption rate, geographical location, roof orientation, and the size of the system installed. Installers can predict output with high precision. For better or worse, the world is changing. Most early adopters installed to protect themselves long-term. Solar panels are beneficial for those working from home. Today, PV export tariffs created an essential self-generation partnership.

New world savvy.

"I've witnessed many fantastic changes, innovations, and installation companies come and go. My fellowship with ethically-minded MCS solar panel installers goes back decades. Today, I offer my experience to ensure you gain real independence from this crazy geopolitical world."
