Quit the eco-branding
If earth-orbiting satellites are powered by solar panels, how do they survive micro-meteorites? These delicate photovoltaic panels should be shot-to-pieces in a very short period. The time to question everything is now.
It is time to stop pretending PV solar panels are eco-friendly, green, or sustainable when dealing with new solar adopters – enough with the eco-branding already.
Many people’s Bullshit-O-Meter is dialed up to eleven after the last few years.
I’ve been guilty of this myself. In the early days of solar heating, I added similar green-styling for a short period. However, I quickly deemed it to be corny.
Only solar heating panel systems can make any green/sustainable/eco claims. The mining, manufacturing, chemistry, and transportation would not pass the smell test. At least copper and glass can be recycled at the end-of-life stage. A well-serviced modern solar heat system can potentially outlive photovoltaic panels.
The price of electricity generated by PV solar reached a levelized cost-to-benefit ratio, leading to accelerated domestic deployment. This new “better than keeping it in the bank” investment opportunity and “keeping up with Jones” class system are the real reasons for solar’s popularity today.
It has very little to do with environmentalism. Interestingly, the word environmentalism contains mentalism.
Propaganda-ism
PV solar technologies cannot be described as green technology. From mineral mining to afterlife processing and disposal, these processes negate any benefits gained during a system’s lifetime.
Ten to fifteen years from now, a deluge of afterlife solar technology will require large amounts of energy to extract the toxic rare-earth minerals via processing plants not yet scaled for the task to come.
I suspect, similar for the disposal costs of electric vehicles. There will be huge costs associated with the legal disposal of PV systems. I foresee mountains of bundled solar panels awaiting to be buried in mass graves like broken wind turbine blades are disposed. At least a solar heating system can be recycled at local council recycle points.
There is nothing sustainable about green energy. The EV market put an end to that nonsense.
Today, eco claims discredit the installation sector as people awaken en masse to the multi-leveled frauds committed by the political class and their corporate masters. Don’t lie to customers with green fake-up!
Independance-ish
The environmentalist market dried up in 2010 if it existed outside TV land and university campuses. I haven’t heard many say they’re adopting for environmental reasons. It was always financially associated with tariffs.
Today, family independence from geopolitics is the primary sales driver. However, not all PV systems can offer this, and this is where real experience benefits a new adopter.
A mass great awareness has enveloped the world. The world is finally growing tiresome of the Ye Olde Rothschild Bankster System (air-backed.) Suddenly, Carbon-based taxation makes sense and fuels the rise of the BRICS (gold-backed) monetary system.
Greta is no longer fashionable even with the young, and acknowledgment of “The Man” has become trendy again. In 2020, we relearned who “The Man” was. This historical moment means the UK solar industry must adapt to prevent credibility loss and possible supply line issues with BRICS.
It’s time for the solar industry to adapt to the challenges of a global realignment – still in progress. I’m questioning why the North American Space Agency controls the world’s Helium supply!
I’m understanding, “Dis” can be swopped with “New” – where information is concerned.
